What is CTE?

Career Technical Education, better known as "CTE", is a series of courses from California Department of Education recognized sectors that will give critical knowldge, experience, and certifications to our high school students. These skills help our students put English Language Arts and Mathematics to work in a real-world, hands-on enviroment they can relate too. These courses will boost student enegagement and will expose our students to a variety of careers, making them employable. All high school students have this opportunity to aquire free CTE skills they are interested in. 

Pathways

Westwood High School Offers 3 different pathways to all high school students. 
  • Agriculture Mechanics Pathway (articulated with Lassen Community College) 
    • Introductory Course: AG Mechanics 1
    • Concentrator Course: AG Mechanics 2
    • Capstone Course: AG Mechanics 3
    • Articulation Course: AG Mechanics 4
  • Agricultural Science Pathway 
    • Introductory Course: Agriculture Science 1
    • Concentrator Course: Sustained Biology for Agriculture
    • Capstone Course: Chemistry or Agriscience
    • Capstone Course: Honors Advanced Interdisciplinary Science for Sustainable Agriculture
  • AME - Production and Managerial Arts Pathway
    • Introductory Course: Introduction Digital Photography and Film Making
    • Concentrator Course: Photography and Digital Media II
    • Capstone Course: Photography and Digital Media III
