With over seven years of experience as a dedicated public-school administrator and previously 18 years of high school English teacher, Paula Silva serves as the Superintendent/Principal of Westwood Unified School District. Throughout her career, she has been committed to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment while ensuring the success of every student.

Ms. Silva has successfully executed multiple grants that have enriched educational programs and student support services, including the Community Schools Grant, California Farm to School Incubator Grant, and the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support funding. Her expertise in securing funding has allowed Westwood Unified to expand resources, enhance student learning, and strengthen community partnerships.

As an advocate for student achievement and staff development, Ms. Silva prioritizes professional learning opportunities, curriculum improvements, and social-emotional support systems. She is dedicated to addressing challenges such as SEL implementation, student behavior interventions, and special education support—always striving to implement effective solutions that benefit students and staff alike.

Under her leadership, Westwood Unified has launched initiatives such as a new Reading Intervention Program for early elementary students, implemented numerous safe school features, and expanded after-school tutoring for grades 7-12. She continues to work closely with teachers, families, and the community to ensure that all students receive the education and support they need to thrive.

Ms. Silva is passionate about creating a collaborative school culture where students feel safe, engaged, and prepared for their futures. She looks forward to continuing her work in making Westwood Unified a place of excellence and opportunity for all.
